2013 Harvest Diary – Day 1 Sunday, May 26, 2013 @ 11:05:44
Like any time poor parent trying to juggle an array of commitments and all the while maintain some semblance of a coherent life, I thought if I perhaps set myself the goal of maybe a few months to catalogue life at Loch Lomond, before - after - and during our annual harvest, this I could surely achieve. A few months? Easy.
Two years and three months after that initial idea was born I welcome you behind the scenes of your favourite Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to Loch Lomond, Mudgee. A very special place for the Gregg family, and for our many friends and extended family who have come and shared in a little of the chaos and crazy times that have been had there over the years. This year we harvested 70,000 tonnes of fruit to produce 12,000 litres of Extra Virgin Olive oil. The harvest lasted 10 days, with the most beautiful autumnal weather as a back drop.. Perhaps why we had so many Sydney visitors escaping the big wet!
We make a fabulous Olive oil, and it's not by accident. I look forward to sharing regular updates via this blog about what we are producing and how the farm is travelling, not just at the annual harvest, but throughout the entire year.
Thank you as always for your support,
Sharon.
